Officina Profumo-Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella’s Gardenia fragrance is a fresh, sweet, floral scent with hints of green. The plant is native to the Orient and reached Europe in the mid 1700s. Its fragrant white flowers were very much in vogue in the 1800s, when it was very common in corsages. It reached the height of its popularity in the 1920’s when men too – intellectuals and the literary crowd – chose gardenias to pin on their suit jackets. The gardenia flower symbolizes grace, elegance and charm.
