Satsuma tsuge – Satsuma-tsuge (also known as Tsuge) is a high-quality boxwood found in Japan’s Ibusuki area of Kagoshima Prefecture. Boxwood is easily shaped, hard, polished, and often used to craft combs. Furthermore, the wood allows paint to show up well, is not easily breakable, and develops into a distinct color with age.
